A newly announced highrise for Jumeirah City in Dubai will dwarf the tiny Nakheel Tower and render the current title holder Burj Dubai woefully inadequate. Among the numerous features of its design which will stand out for their audacity and scale, its main elevator is to be a vertical “200km/h bullet train.”

Dubai developer Nakheel – the company that created man-made islands in the shapes of a palm tree and the world – said the structure will be the centre-piece of an inner-city harbour set to become the emirate’s new, unofficial capital.

Towering over the Burj Dubai, the Nakheel Tower is planned to be the tallest building on the planet.

In a tribute to the spirit of womanhood, a leading real estate developer in Dubai will soon build arguably the world’s first tower where only
women can own office space. United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based real estate firm Hydra properties has announced that excavation work for the 20-storey tall ‘Eve’s Tower’ in Dubai’s Business Bay area has been completed and the project is scheduled for completion in 2010.
